Jewelry care: a guide to action

Categories

In order for jewelry to please you for many years, it is important to take proper care of them. It is important to remember that both gold and silver are soft metals and can quickly scratch or darken if used carelessly.

To preserve the appearance of the products, we recommend:

1. remove jewelry during cleaning (especially if you use household chemicals), as well as when applying creams or cosmetics: hairspray, perfume, face creams - all these wonderful products, unfortunately, do not prolong the service life of jewelry;

2. all jewelry should be stored separately from each other, in our branded bags or boxes, it is extremely important not to allow products made of different metals to come into contact. When going on a trip, do not forget to take care of the transportation of jewelry: use hard boxes or a casket, this will prevent deformation of the products;

3. If possible, avoid mechanical impact on jewelry: remember that contact with door handles, car steering wheel, as well as other jewelry when worn, accelerates the abrasion of both gold and rhodium coatings.
How to clean jewelry properly

The ideal care option is professional cleaning of the product. But there is not always time to visit the nearest jeweler or contact our service. Therefore, we will tell you a few life hacks for fast and safe cleaning of silver and gold. Keep it for yourself so as not to lose:⠀

    Toothpaste is only white, without color additives! Squeeze a little directly onto the decoration and gently wipe with a soft cloth (you can also use a brush, just make sure that it is soft and will not leave scratches!).
    Ammonia and hydrogen peroxide – add two tablespoons of each substance to a liter of water, and then put the silver jewelry there for 15 minutes.
    Soap and soda – dissolve a spoonful of soda and a little soap in a glass of water, and then put the decoration in the solution for 15-20 minutes. This method is the safest for blackened silver.⠀
Ammonia will help to restore the gold to its former luster: dilute a teaspoon of alcohol in a glass of water (if there are also precious stones on the product, then add six drops of ammonia), lower the decoration into this mixture for 15 minutes.

At the end of any procedure, the product should be thoroughly rinsed in clean water and wiped dry with a soft cloth or napkin. And no abrasive powders - they will only scratch the jewelry, this is especially detrimental to the matte surface. For professional home care, we recommend purchasing these cleaning products:
